Dr. Nawal K. Sharma received his Ph.D. from the University of Delhi in 1994 on the chemistry of natural products and biotransformations. He then moved to the faculty of medicine, University of Antwerp (Belgium) for Post-Doctoral studies on natural products based anti-viral and anti-cancer agents. In 1996, he joined Ranbaxy Research Laboratories and worked for 5 years as a Senior Scientist and group leader. Currently, he is working at the Center for Biotechnology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. His present research is based on enzyme-assisted organic, stereo controlled, high value polymer synthesis. The synthesized products are being designed to be used in regenerative medicine and for development of artificial organs.
