Dr. John Heffernan graduated from the University of Salford, UK with a degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry. He obtained his Ph.D. in Asymmetric Synthesis and followed with post-doctoral work on cyclic peptides. He began using ChemDraw and Chem3D on the Mac in the late 1980's during his college studies to determine the distances between functional groups. Today, he uses these programs for solving thermodynamic isomer problems at Frutarom UK.
