Dr. Derek McPhee obtained his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Calgary in 1986, under the direction of Prof. T.G. Back. He has held a variety of positions in industry and currently runs his own chemical/pharmaceutical industry consulting business, Derek McPhee & Associates. Since 1999, he has been the Managing Editor, and as of this year, Editor-in-Chief, of the online chemistry journal Molecules, a journal of Synthetic Chemistry and Natural Product Chemistry, (http://www.mdpi.net/molecules/), published by MDPI, a registered non-profit organization based in Switzerland.
