WITH CHEMDRAW being my favorite structure-drawing tool for the past seven years, I looked forward to reviewing ChemOffice 2001. Several new features have been implemented in ChemDraw which greatly enhance the user interface of this program. These improvements will be addressed later in my review. First, let’s look at why the CombiChem add-in for Microsoft Excel is a great new feature in ChemOffice.

CombiChem - Evaluating Libraries Prior to Synthesis

The CombiChem plug-in for MS Excel is a useful tool when you want to evaluate a library prior to synthesis. Evaluation can be based on a number of factors including molecular mass, calculated LogP and melting point. In MS Excel, you select New Reactions from the CombiChem menu bar, and the Reactions spreadsheet is generated.
