ADVANCED Chemistry Development, Inc. (ACD/Labs) announced that it will work to integrate its SpecX technology with CambridgeSoft's E-Notebook. Together, these two facilities will enable researchers to maintain electronic laboratory notebooks covering multiple projects with chemical structures and spectra.

ACD/SpecX reads and displays spectral data files in many formats, covering all major branches of spectroscopy including NMR, MS, UV-Visible, IR, Raman, and chromatography (GC and LC). File storage can be on local hard drives, on a network, in Oracle databases, and from FTP and HTTP addresses. Users can set display preferences for each spectral technique and control the appearance of labels, grids, peaks, annotations, and other graphic features. SpecX displays spectral parameters, shift assignments, fragment assignments, and annotations, and also provides tools to zoom in/out. Spectra can also be edited using a special edition of ACD/SpecManager.
