Installation

With the increasing array of Windows operating systems, backwards compatibility is an important factor. For the purpose of this review ChemOffice Ultra was installed on three different Operating Systems, 98 (Pentium III, 383K RAM), 2000 (Pentium III, 128K) and XP (Pentium IV, 128K). Installation of the software ran fairly smoothly and rapidly.

ChemDraw User Interface

One of the first noticeable changes is that ChemDraw has undergone a minor "cosmetic facelift". More detail has been placed on the screen appearance and the graphical user-interface which are now more in line with the features of Microsoft Office. Thoughtfully, the underlying foundation and strength of ChemDraw is still prevalent, allowing existing users to make the transition to this newest version flawlessly. A number of "behind the screen" additions have also been included in the form of macros. Opening Microsoft Word after installation, you can see customized buttons for ChemFinder and ChemDraw. .....
